Review: Suddenly Forbidden by Ella Fields
February 17, 2018Title : Suddenly Forbidden Author : Ella Fields Standalone New Adult Romance BLURB I thought he'd always be mine, even ...
even when I was forced to say goodbye.
We were never meant to let go,
but it happened anyway.
Too bad I didn’t know someone was waiting to take my place, or I would've held on a lot tighter.
Two years later, we were exactly where we'd always planned to be.
I'd kept my promise.
He'd forgotten all about his.
Not only had he moved on, but the person he'd moved on with was my best friend, leaving me to begin college with a broken heart.
I guess this is the part where I’m supposed to tell you some other guy stepped in, repaired my shattered pieces, and made me smile again.
This isn't that kind of story.
My heart might have been broken,
but it refused to fall out of love.
WARNING: this book contains cheating.
Review: Midnight Blue by L.J. Shen

I loved this book. I feel like I should give it a re-read since the world was against me and everyone interrupted me when I was reading this *cries*
Here are my thoughts about Indie and Alex's story!
"Two casualties. One epic failure."
Alex is a tortured soul, a massive asshole BUT with a golden heart. He made my heart twist multiple times and even though he put himself in hell, he also had the strength to battle it in his own way. His love/hate and passion for what he does was one of my favorite things about this book.
"Alex Winslow was beautiful in a way storms were-only from afar."
Indie was the strong one here. She's one of the best heroines I've read in a really long time. I admired her. Indigo is truly special. Everything about her shouts unique and raw passion for every little thing she loves, including her family. She loves fiercely and purely. And I could feel that from the pages.
Their love was hidden by a fog. A really dense fog. A fog of their expectations, jealousy, and fear to love. And oh, boy, I enjoyed that slow burn.
"I'm going to take what's inside you and put it in my notebook, because I'm empty and you're full."
This story was full of art, vices, self-destruction, love, angst, music and a guy and a girl who unexpectedly filled the emptiness of each other.
Loved this book!! One of my most anticipated books of the year and it didn't disappoint me. There is just one scene that didn't make sense for me, but it's just a little detail that you won't even notice!
L.J. Shen always writes fabulous stories and somehow manages to write stories so original and amazing, real characters. Can't wait for her next book!
That's it! I totally recommend this book to everyone. I almost sure you didn't read anything like this before.

![]() The stories I've read in this anthology were so sweet. I loved it and the fact that each one was different in their own way. Here are my little reviews of each story I've read in this anthology: ![]() ![]() ![]() Well, L.J. Shen never disappoints me. Each story is so good and this one was no different. Here we met Sage and Jolie. They are best friends since they're little and it has perdured til now. The attraction, feelings and sudden consciousness of the future push them together. But it isn't as easy as you may think. They have to solve their problems and fears to finally have their happily-ever-after they were meant to have since day one. And it's even harder with his football star status. I loved the background of the story and even though my biggest fear when I started reading was a rushed relationship or insta-love, it didn't happen! The pace was perfect and I connected with them. I loved Sage and Jojo's past, present and future. And that ending had my heart beating like crazy! ![]() ![]() ![]() I can't say much without spilling spoilers, but I'll do my best! If you've read Bad Habit then you know who Camden Hess is. (If you haven't. Go. Now.) He's a professional snowboarder and is going places. He is cocky but has a heart of gold. When he meets heartbroken and disappointed Mollie Mabey, their worlds collide. And they have to face what future has planned for them. Mollie was sassy but sweet, and Cam was all kinds of sexy but caring and humble. At the very beginning, I had my doubts with Mollie, but then she won me. And I'm not gonna lie, after a few chapters, I was crossing my fingers to not find a huge cliché, and was on cloud nine when I knew that wasn't happening. I LOVED THIS STORY! They were perfect together and my heart melted. Multiple times. Really. Now I'm even more eager to read more about the other characters*coff* Adrian *coff* and see how their lives develop. ![]() ![]() ![]() Well, here we have the one sport I was SO excited about. Ohh, and the best part of this is that the story is placed in Paris!! How awesome!! Adrian is a football/soccer player and is also studying medicine. He is the star of his team. Janey is a journalism student from California and is working on an article about the star of Paris Central, Adrian. They are lonely souls and need some light to guide them. They resist, but we all know love strong and no one can't fight it. I loved the slow burn here, and the historical background and age. Emma's words are always magical. And this story, my friends, is different. There were some parts where I couldn't connect with the hero and the adrenaline during a match. But it was all me and my passion for football/soccer. Leaving that aside, I really liked the world, time and scenario where the story was placed and it was beautifully written! Sweeping the Series by Kate Stewart and Switch Hitter by Sara Ney's reviews COMING UP! ![]() |

Meet the authors:
LJ Shen
L.J. Shen is an International #1 best-selling author of Contemporary Romance and New Adult novels. She lives in Northern California with her husband, young son and chubby cat. Before she’d settled down, L.J. (who thinks referring to herself in the third person is really silly, by the way) traveled the world, and collected friends from all across the globe. Friends who’d be happy to report that she is a rubbish companion, always forgets peoples’ birthdays and never sends Christmas cards. She enjoys the simple things in life, like spending time with her family and friends, reading, HBO, Netflix and internet-stalking Stephen James. She reads between three to five books a week and firmly believes Crocs shoes and mullets should be outlawed.Connect with LJ Shen
Kennedy Ryan:
Kennedy Ryan is a Southern girl gone Southern California. A Top 100 Amazon Bestseller, Kennedy writes romance about remarkable women who find a way to thrive even in tough times, the love they find, and the men who cherish them. She is a wife to her lifetime lover and mother to an extraordinary son. She has always leveraged her journalism background to write for charity and non-profit organizations, but enjoys writing to raise Autism awareness most. A contributor for Modern Mom Magazine, Kennedy’s writings have appeared in Chicken Soup for the Soul, USA Today and many others. The founder and executive director of a foundation serving Georgia families living with Autism, Kennedy has appeared on Headline News, Montel Williams, NPR and other outlets as a voice for families living with autism.Connect with Kennedy
Adriana Locke:
A contemporary romance author running on coffee and sticky kisses from my rowdy four little boys. From Indiana, I’m a true Mid-Westerner. Life, for me, is about family, faith, and food. When I’m not running my kiddos around or having a lunch date of fajitas with my husband (and high school sweetheart), you can find me outside. I love a good sunny day almost as much as I love candy, random quotes, and steamy bad boys in fantastic books. I’m on nearly every social media platform. Please find me on the ones you frequent – I love chatting with readers.Connect with Adriana
Mandi Beck:
Mandi Beck has been an avid reader all of her life. A deep love for books always had her jotting down little stories on napkins, notebooks, and her hand. As an adult she was further submerged into the book world through book clubs and the epicness of social media. It was then that she graduated to writing her stories on her phone and then finally on a proper computer. A nursing student, mother to two rambunctious and somewhat rotten boys, and stepmom to two great girls away at college, she shares her time with her husband in Chicago where she was born and raised. Mandi is a diehard hockey fan and blames the Blackhawks when her deadlines are not met.Connect with Mandi
Emma Scott:
I write romances with flawed characters, characters with artistic hearts: builders, poets, and writers of various makes and models. I love to write book lovers; those who have found refuge, companionship, and escape in books, much as we do in real life. I like realism, honesty, authenticity in storytelling. I love to write about enduring love, soul-deep love, in as real a setting as I can make, but with big smooshy HEAs. I believe in diversity, open-mindedness, and inclusion. I like sweetness mixed with steam, love conquering all, and above all, hope. Love always wins.Connect with Emma
Charleigh Rose:
We are a duo of an international best-selling author and a blogger who teamed up to write the taboo, thought-provoking stories we want our audience to have--without filters. Both Charleigh and Rose are committed to giving you witty, sexy, intelligent novels that will leave you wanting more.Ella Fox:
When she’s not writing, Ella indulges the gypsy in her blood and travels the country. Ella loves reading, movies, music, buying make-up, reading Tmz, Twitter and pedicures… not necessarily in that order. She has a wild sense of humor and loves to laugh. Her favorite thing in the world is hanging out with her family and watching comedy movies.Connect with Ella
Sara Ney:
Sara Ney is the USA Today Bestselling Author of the How to Date a Douchebag series, and is best known for her sexy, laugh-out-loud New Adult romances. Among her favorite vices, she includes: iced latte’s, historical architecture and well-placed sarcasm. She lives colorfully, collects vintage books, art, loves flea markets, and fancies herself British.Connect with Sara
Meghan Quinn:

Kate Stewart:
Kate Stewart lives in Charleston, S.C. with her husband, Nick, and her naughty beagle, Sadie. A native of Dallas, Kate moved to Charleston three weeks after her first visit, dropping her career of 8 years, and declaring it her creative muse. Kate pens messy, sexy, angst-filled contemporary romance as well as romantic comedy and erotic suspense because it's what she loves as a reader. A lover of all things '80s and '90s, especially John Hughes films and rap, she dabbles a little in photography, can knit a simple stitch scarf for necessity only and does a horrible job of playing the ukulele. Aside from running a mile without collapsing, traveling is the only other must on her bucket list. On occasion, she does very well at vodka.Connect with Kate
Rochelle Paige:
Rochelle Paige is the Amazon bestselling author of nineteen books. She absolutely adores reading and her friends growing up used to tease her when she trailed after them, trying to read and walk at the same time. She loves stories with alpha males, sassy heroines, hot sex and happily ever afters. She is a bit of a genre hopper in both her reading and her writing. So far she's written books in several romance sub-genres including new adult, contemporary, paranormal and romantic suspense. She is the mother of two wonderful sons who inspired her to chase her dream of being an author. She wants them to learn from her that you can live your dream as long as you are willing to work for it.Connect with Rochelle

BRIAR
I was infatuated with Asher Kelley the moment he came tumbling through my brother’s window five years ago.
Even bruised and bloodied, he was the most beautiful boy I'd ever seen.
We couldn't ever be together.
I was too young, and he was too untouchable.
He was too troubled, and I was too naive.
But the heart is rebellious, and mine decided it didn’t care about any of those things.
As I got older, harmless flirting turned to stolen moments in dark corners.
Until one day, he was gone without a trace.
Now, three years later, he’s back.
Callous and cruel.
He’s my brother’s best friend. My parents’ worst nightmare.
I should hate him.
But like a Bad Habit, I can’t quit him.
ASHER
I was drawn to Briar Vale from the first time she looked up at me with stars in her big, blue eyes.
She was just a kid, nothing but elbows and knees, but she was the most beautiful creature I'd ever seen.
We could never be together.
I was too old and she was too off limits.
She was too good and I was too fucked up.
Eventually, the temptation became too much to resist.
I risked everything for a kiss and she betrayed me.
Three years have passed and I’m forced to see her again, but now she's all grown up.
She’s my best friend’s baby sister. My downfall.
I hate her for what she did.
But she's always been my drug of choice

Review: Forever Right Now by Emma Scott
November 09, 2017Title : Forever Right Now Author : Emma Scott Standalone Genre : Contemporary Romance Tags : Single-Dad, Dancer Romance ...
Darlene Montgomery has been to hell and back…more than once. After a stint in jail for drug possession, she is finally clean and ready to start over. Yet another failed relationship is just the motivation she needs to move from New York to San Francisco with the hopes of resurrecting her dance career and discovering that she is more than the sum of her rap sheet. As Darlene struggles in her new city, the last thing she wants is to become entangled with her handsome—but cranky—neighbor and his adorable little girl...
Sawyer Haas is weeks away from finishing law school, but exhaustion, dwindling finances, and the pressure to provide for himself and his daughter, Olivia, are wearing him down. A federal clerkship--a job he desperately needs--awaits him after graduation, but only if he passes the Bar Exam. Sawyer doesn’t have the time or patience for the capricious—if beautiful—dancer who moves into the apartment above his. But Darlene’s easy laugh and cheerful spirit seep into the cracks of his hardened heart, and slowly break down the walls he’s resurrected to keep from being betrayed ever again.
When the parents of Olivia’s absentee mother come to fight for custody, Sawyer could lose everything. To have any chance at happiness, he must trust Darlene, the woman who has somehow found her way past his brittle barbs, and Darlene must decide how much of her own bruised heart she is willing to give to Sawyer and Olivia, especially when the ghosts of her troubled past refuse to stay buried.
For readers 18 and up.
From start to end, Emma made this book one of my favorites this year.
So here we met again Darlene, she was Beckett and Zelda's friend on The Butterfly Project. I loved her personality back then, and now she was just wonderful.
Darlene Montgomery was an addict and battles against herself and the world every day. She is strong and full of light, even at the worst times. She wants to give a try to her passion to dance. Her heart is so immense and she has a lot of love to give but hasn't found the right person or the one who will be smart enough to hold onto her and don't let her go.
Until...
Sawyer the Lawyer *sigh* he is perfect. I fell so much in love with him. He is caring, hard worker, devoted and has a huge heart even if he doesn't know it yet.
His heart that he had kept loocked away for so long was mine".
He only dedicates to Olivia, his beautiful and super extra cute baby. He is just about to finish law school and wants to provide his little girl everything in the world as they only have each other. His little girl is everything to him.
Sawyer and Darlene's worlds collide and they start to open up to each other. Both have terrible pasts and the present is just about to make them touch rock bottom.
Emma has an ability to write hard life stories that make your heart twist, and then she gives you the best happily ever after.
She goes deep on every character she writes, it is not superficial or unreal, their lives are meticulously weaved and that is one of my favorite things about her books. I feel a profound connection to her characters (for starters I can't get over Jonah yet).
The plot, the actions, the scenarios, the secondary characters, everything was perfect to me in this book.
I have a weakness for secondary characters, I kind of love them more than the protagonists, and here we met a LOT of incredible people.Jax, Sawyer's best friend, was SOOOOOO swoony. And Max, Darlene's sponsor, and friend was PERFECT. His story reminded me of Kacey's.
Forgetting is pretending it never happened." -Max
Oh, and Elena and Henrietta were the mother figures here and don't let them down even when the tension was overwhelming. Their wisdom was everything.
This book touched me to my very soul. On a personal level. Sawyer and Olivia's connection and story. Darlene passion to dance. I could relate to everything here.
So, after I cried almost an hour (yeah, I'm a baby), Emma gifted us with the most emotional and perfect HEA. I cried, even more, Zelda and Beckett's cameo made me cry even more. And Sawyer, Darlene and Olivia's grand finale was the cherry on top.
So can't wait to read next ES' book and I think I'll re-read this book multiple times!
